Many people told me that life at a b-school would be tough
and unpredictable but the fun of experiencing it firsthand gives an entirely
different feeling. The first surprise that was in store for me at Nitie campus
was the Mumbai weather. I had heard a lot about Mumbai rains but never did I
know that i would need to walk with an umbrella in hand anytime during the day.
The next surprise of the day was thrown in by Dr Prasad. I was sitting in the
classroom all geared up for the communication skills lecture but in came Dr
Mandi, our POM professor, whom I had already seen through the campus diaries.
The lecture began with a basic introduction from Dr Prasad
and some questions from our side. He soon made us realize that our PDC(per day cost) of MBA
at Nitie was approximately 2500(a fact that never crossed my mind inspite of
being so obvious). Next came the beautiful line “Aaj ki roti, aaj hi kamana”
and he made us realize the importance of financially supporting ourselves.
Another highlight of the day was the famous slogan of Dr
Mandi “Socho Becho, becho seekho, seekho socho” .He also made us realize the
importance of writing blogs and how we could educate each other by penning down
our thoughts
Dr Mandi shared some toys with us and asked us to play. We
were all sitting perplexed trying to understand if those toys were meant to
make us comfortable. Later we found out that they had a much deeper meaning behind
them and could be used to explain many concepts of Physics
The POM class at 2 PM had me singing “ brick in the wall” by
Pink Floyd with Ishan Verma and Abhinav Sirohi. It was unique in the sense that
he used that song and explained us how a person can choose to be “Another brick
in the wall” or move out of the crowd and offer something different.
So this sums up my day 1 experience with Dr Prasad. I’ll be
back soon with my everyday learning’s.
Cheers,
Anupam
